Sony Xperia Z 'Yuga' and ZL 'Odin'Are you ready to welcome in 2013? It's sure to be another hot year for handsets, and if this pair of leaked Xperia smartphones is any indication, Sony is likely to be off to a solid start come CES. The svelte Xperia Z "Yuga" and slightly sleeker ZL "Odin" have made a premature debut on the Japanese tech giant's site, with a pair of straight-on press shots appearing overnight.
The Xperia Z shot appears to be in line with earlier leaks, while the ZL is shaping up to be a slightly more compact variant, potentially squeezing identical hardware into a smaller shell. Both devices are rumored to include 5-inch 1080p LCDs, quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processors with 2 gigs of RAM and Adreno 320 graphics, along with a 13-megapixel Exmor RS sensor on the rear -- oddly, the ZL's front-facing camera appears to be positioned on the bottom. Sony has yet to confirm either device's specifications, but with CES just around the corner, we don't have long to wait for either device to become official.

Samsung Korea posts Galaxy S II Android 41 Jelly Bean update detailsSamsung Galaxy S II owners waiting for an update that adds features (instead of taking them away) may not have long to wait, now that support pages for the official Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update -- announced months ago -- have been found on the company's Korean website. Listing details for all three local carriers, the update will arrive via KIES and change the amount of available internal memory from 12GB to 11GB. Other than the usual list of Android 4.1 features, it will also preload the Google+ and some additional Play apps while adding Samsung features like Smart Stay. There's no word yet on exactly when the official update will arrive (or a schedule for rollout on US carrier editions), but once it's out in Korea it shouldn't take much for owners of the GT-I9100 international version to try it out as well.

Samsung's 'Godiva' phone appears on blurrycam with Verizon branding, no keyboardAfter riding into town on Snapdragon S4 benchmarks, we've now got some pictures of Samsung's incoming smartphone, one that's bound for Verizon. If you liked the curves and capacitive button quartet of the Stratosphere II, you'll probably be happy with what's on offer here too. Specifications have been cranked up to a 720p display, Android 4.1.2 (confirmed on-screen after the break) and NFC support within the back cover, although the physical keyboard hasn't made it into this model -- another death knell for the slider.
We're still waiting on an official name from Verizon, likely something to do with clouds or the sky, but suspect the official word shouldn't be far off.

Audi goes arty, crafts A4 replica slot cars for 'quattro experience' installation (video)

Audi goes arty, crafts A4 replica slot cars for 'quattro experience' installationAudi and art? Those two worlds aren't ones we'd necessarily lump together. But the luxury car-maker's done just that, collaborating with Slot Mods USA to create the "quattro experience," an installation replete with remote controllable A4 replicas and a custom track. Let's be clear, though, this is no mere hobbyist recreation. As the accompanying mini-documentary shows, the team behind this project not only put great care into constructing the 20ft x 7ft custom track with the right bends, it also faithfully crafted the slot cars so as to mimic the Audi quattro's all wheel drive mechanic.

So, how'd they do that? Through a combo of 3D printing, a four-wheel drive chassis and, most importantly, a calculated arrangement of traction magnets, the crew was able to get the cars up and running, and even outfitted with in-dash cams. And, in an appropriate modernist twist, there's an app for all of that -- a custom one designed by Audi that runs on the iPad and lets "drivers" steer via a POV feed and onscreen controls. Unfortunately, the whole shebang's only on display in Toronto for the time being. So, unless you're planning a trip to the Great White North anytime soon, the mini-doc after the break's about as close as you're going to get to the real thing.

BlackBerry 10's voice control shows off its Germanic speaking skills videoSeen enough of BB10 yet? Neither have we, and we can now add voice control to the list of leaked previews that includes the camera app, Twitter and Google Talk integration. The folks at Telekom Presse are the ones with the latest leak, showing off a Z10 handset and its onboard voice controls, along with a demo of BB10's keyboard and mapping app via web video today.
The clip shows the Z10 taking SMS dictation, calling contacts, and playing music -- and it appears to take all those verbal German commands in stride, though we can't say how well it'll deal with less literal languages. We'll let you watch the video after the break to draw your own conclusions, but it's safe to say it looks like BB10 has its answer for Siri and Google Now.

Air Hogs Elite Helix X4 Radio Control Quadcopter

If you perceive Air Hogs as a kid’s toy, then there’s a good chance that the new Air Hogs Elite Helix X4 Radio Control Quadcopter might change your perception. make no mistake here. the Elite Helix X4 is not an infrared-control two (or three, at best) channel flying toy that your five-year old nephew runs around with. this quad ducted fans-equipped flying machine is a full-fledge radio control toy with full four channels of control and uses interference-free 2.4GHz radio link for a harmless fun-filled flight. it features integrated gyro stabilization and an incredibly crash-resistant materials, protecting the rotors in the event of, God forbids, crash. it offers two distinct control modes: a beginner mode that allows for a more stabilized flight for novice pilot to easily learn the basics of flying, while advanced pilots can work to master the flight. apart from being novice-friendly, the Air Hogs Elite Helix X4 Radio Control Quadcopter is quite a looker too. the look department might be subjective but one thing for sure is that the X4 does not look all too toy-like (it is still a toy but one for the grown ups and not-so grown ups). the Elite Helix X4 was featured in the recent 2013 American International Toy Fair in NY but as you all know, we were not fortunate enough to be there ourselves but nevertheless, we would definitely grab one as soon as they are available – even if it means at our own expenses – and have a go with it ourselves. the Air Hogs Elite Helix X4 Radio Control Quadcopter is set to hit the stores later this year for $89.99 a pop.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) ? Albert Pujols has hit his first regular-season home run since joining the Los Angeles Angels, ending the longest drought of his 12-year career after 33 games and 139 at-bats.

Pujols' two-run shot into the left-field bullpen Sunday came in the fifth inning against Toronto's Drew Hutchison.

Pujols was playing his 28th game for the Angels since leaving St. Louis and signing a $240 million, 10-year contract. The homer, estimated at 390 feet, came in his 111 at-bat for the Angels.

The three-time NL MVP hit seven home runs in spring training. His regular-season drought began last year with the Cardinals.

Pujols' home run was his 446th in the big leagues. The only game he's missed this season was Saturday night's 6-2 victory, when manager Mike Scioscia gave him the day off.

Pujols' longest homer drought prior to this was in 2011, when he came up empty in 27 straight games and 105 at-bats. His longest previous drought at the start of a season was in 2008, when he failed to get one in his first eight games and 27 at-bats. The 32-year-old first baseman averaged 40.5 home runs during his 11 seasons with the Cardinals, including a career-best 49 in 2006. He is the only player in major league history to hit at least 30 homers in each of his first 11 big league seasons.

This was Pujols' first home run at Angel Stadium, the 31st big league ballpark in which he's hit one.
